Dental Extractions

Types of Dental extraction:

Non surgical: This involves the removal of teeth that are visible in the mouth. A local anesthetic will first be administered, before using dental forceps to loosen the tooth and finally to remove it.

Surgical: This involves the removal of teeth that cannot be easily accessed. The doctor may recommend this if the tooth is severely broken or impacted behind bone or another tooth.

Both types of extractions can be done at any of our dental clinics in Bangalore.

What can be expected during tooth extraction?

  1. Depending on the complexity of the extraction, the duration varies between 15 to 60 minutes. An anaesthetic will be given so that the tooth and surrounding area will be numbed.
  2. The tooth will be removed with extraction forceps. If a surgery is required, the patient will be informed before the procedure begins. In such a case, an incision will be made on the gums to gain better access to the tooth.
  3. After the extraction, the patient will be given a piece of gauze to bite on until the bleeding stops.
